Kunjapuri Trek is the best one day trekking in Rishikesh,where we can see amazing sunrise view & himalayan range snow capped peaks (Swarga Rohini, Gangotri, Banderpunch and Chaukhamba) situated in Tihari district in Uttarakhand. Kunjapuri temple is dedicated for Goddess Durga, established by Jagatguru Sankracharaya. It is one of the Saktipeeth of Goddess durga among 52 saktipeeth in India & Nepal.
Tourist visit this place early in the morning for sunrise view, mediation & yoga.We can reach there by transport up to Kunjapuri main gate, after ascending 300 steps we reach to the temple.After getting there in early morning see how sun comes from behind snow coveredpeaks, amazing view of sunrise along with mountains & valley, sit there for sometime for meditation & yoga, visit many years old Goddess temple. We will start trek now which is quite descend up to Holy & Yoga city Rishikesh passes through many beautiful villages, forest, small water streams & agriculture.After exploring the villages & valley we will reach to natural waterfall Neer Ghattu,Enjoy here in waterfall & trek down to Rishikesh.
About The Kunjapuri Temple
Kunjapuri temple is famous as a mythological and sacred Siddha Peeth. This place is famous not only because of the story related to Gods and Goddesses but also for the panoramic view of the Himalayan peaks of Garhwal from here. From here, beautiful views of the Himalayan ranges, Swargarohni, Gangotri, Bandarpoonch, Chaukhamba and Rishikesh, Haridwar and Doonghati of the Bhagirathi Valley are visible.
The other two Shakti Peethas in the Tihari district are the temple of Surkanda Devi and the temple of Chandrabadni Devi and Kunjapuri, with these two peethas forms a sacred triangle. Shakti Peethas are at those places where the body parts of Goddess Sati (wife of Lord Shiva and daughter of King Daksh) fell while being carried by Lord Shiva towards the Himalayas in his arms.

What time we should start from Rishikesh?
If you planning to Kunjapuri sunrise and trekking then you should start 1 hours before from Rishikesh, its 26 km drive will take 30-40 minutes and from the roadhead to Kunjapuri temple 300 steep ascend steps need to be cover so it will take around a hour to reach the Sunrise point.
Difficulty Level
Kunjapuri trek is easy level of trek but its totally downhill trek and some places route is very narrow and tiny stones makes the route slippery. one who have knee pain or not fit for trek should avoid.
