Valley of Flowers is a gift of God, which is full of natural beauty, this valley consists various kind of flowers which starts blooming in the month of June, most of the months this valley covered by thick layer. Valley of Flowers Trek has now become popular among tourists, During July, Aug, Sep thousands of tourists visit this valley along with Hemmkund Shahib.

Where is the valley of flowers?

UNESCO declared World Heritage in 2005 due to its natural beauty and biological diversity in the Valley of flowers Trek situated at the holy Hemkund Sahib Road in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand at an altitude of  11000 ft to 12000 above sea level. This valley of flowers spread over 87.5 sq km attracts not only India but also the tourists of the world. There are more than 500 species of flowers found in the Valley of Flowers worldwide. Every year, a large number of tourists from abroad visit the country. This valley is still the center of attraction for researchers. Nanda Devi National Park and Valley of Flowers are jointly declared World Heritage Sites.

This valley consists various kind of flowers which starts blooming in the month of June, most of the months this valley covered by a thick layer of snow, the best time to visit this valley is July & August, it is 10 km long & 2 km wide valley, 3km distances from Ghangaria. This valley founded by Frank S. Smythe when they are returning from successful MT. Kamet Expedition in 1931, lost their route & reached hear. They were shocked when they seen many kind of beautiful flowers here, named it “Valley of Flower” later he written a book on it.

Valley of flowers Trek

Beside of this valley is Hemkund shrine (15197 ft) famous pilgrimage destination for Sikh religion, from where we can see snow-clad peaks, a beautiful lake & Gurudwara. Around the lake, we can see bhramkamal, the state flower of Uttarakhand. It is a 6 km quiet ascend trek from Ghangaria, you can also reach there by pony.

Who was John Margaret Laggi ?

In 1938 after the flowering of the valley of flowers on the world map, in 1939, Q. Botanical Gardens London and Jan Margaret Lagi, who was born on February 21, 1855, to study more than 500 species of flowers present in this valley. she came. During this time, unfortunately, by choosing flowers, he died on 4th July 1939 falling from a shield Dhari hill and in this valley of flowers, he always slept in Chiranidra for eternity. In memory of Joan Marget Laggi, a memorial has been built here, which reminds us of the lag while roaming in the valley. Any tourist who comes to visit here does not forget to pay homage to the flowers on the memorial of laggi and give reverence to the flowers.

Valley of Flowers Trek

The color varies every 15 days.

In the valley of flowers, more than 500 species of flowers bloom from July to October. The special thing is that every 15 days the color of the valley also changes due to flowering of different species of flowers. It is such hypnosis that everyone wants to be in captivity.

More than five hundred species of flowers!

Flowers of three hundred species bloom at different times. There is a treasure of biodiversity. Flowers growing here are many flowers like pototila, primala, enemoon, arisima, amoniteum, blue poppy, Mars Mary gold, Brahma kamal, fan lotus, blooming here. In the valley, rare species of living organisms, vegetation, and herbs, the world dwells.

Hemkund Sahib 

Hemkund SahibAfter Valley of Flowers Trek, next day trek to Hemkund sahib, which is quite 6 km ascend. Hemkund Sahib formally known as Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Ji, is a Sikh place of worship and pilgrimage site in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, India. It is devoted to Guru Govind Singh (1666–1708), the tenth Sikh Guru, and finds mention in Dasam Granth, a work dictated by Guruji himself. With its setting of a glacial lake surrounded by seven mountain peaks, each adorned by a Nishan Sahib on its cliff, it is according to the Survey of India located in the Himalayas at an elevation of 4,632 meters (15,197 feet). It is approached from Govindghat on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway. The main town near Gobindghat is Joshimath.

Itineraries

Day 01

Rishikesh/Haridwar to Govindghat (6000 ft) – 272 km. – 9 hours

Morning reach to Haridwar or Rishikesh, our vechile will be wating for you. Ride on vehicle with yours rucksack & Equipments, Breakfast & Lunch on the way.
Full day moterable today passes through many well know places which are famous for its beautiful view as well as religious places like Rishikesh, Devprayag. Srinagar, Dhari Devi, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, Chamoli, Joshimath, & Vishnuprayag, Confluences of rivers, Alaknanda & Bhagirathi in Devprayag, Alaknanda & Mandakini in Rudraprayag, Pinder and Alaknanda in Karanaprayag, Alaknanda & Dhauliganga in Vishnuprayag so it’s a long journey today but full of scenic beauty, Culture, Villageas, Hills & Mountans view. we will reach Gobindghat at around 5:30 PM or 6:00 O’ Clock. Overnight stay in Hotel or Guest houses.

Day 02

Govindghat - Ghangaria (10000 ft.) - 13 km. – 8.5 - 9 hours

Get up early in the morning because today trek is quit long 13 km to reach Ghangaria. Morning tea & Breakfast, Lunch on the way. Trek route quite broad clean & well marked. Trek along with Pupawati river meanwhile view of Hathi Paravat, some water falls & villages. We will reach Ghangaria around 6:00 PM. Night stay in Ghangaria.

Day 03

Ghangaria - Valley of Flower (11000 -12000 ft) – Ghangaria -10 km – 5 h

Today we will trek well known place “Valley of flower’’, what you keen to visit.After breakfast we start trek, this valley is 3 km away from Ghangaria, flowers will be seen both side of route which gives indication of valley. After crossing river there is 1 km ascend & 1 km straight trek route, trek route passes through between of valley of flower, both side we will see gardens of flower. We will upto 2 km long & return back via memorial of Joan Margaret Legge who died here when she was exploring this valley & unfortunately slipped.After exploring this incredible valley return back to Ghangaria for night halt.

Day 04

Ghangaria - Hemkund Shahib(15197 ft.) – Ghangaria - 12 km – 6-7 hours

Today we have to wake up early in the morning because we can catch morning sunrise view , today trek is ascend 6km up & 6km down. On the way majestic view of valley & snow capped peaks, water falls, flora & fauna, it takes 2-3 hours to reach Hemkund Sahib Shrine from where view is very beautiful, in Hemkund lake we can see snow capped peaks image. If anybody want do dip in lake they can visit Gurudwara & return back to Ghangaria

Day 05

Ghangaria - Govindghat - Badrinath (10170 ft.) - 13 km by trek.

Get up early in the morning, start trek to Govindghat quite descend today 13 km. it takes around 4.5 hours to reach Govindghat, ride to vechile & depart to Badrinath shrine & mana villege, from where we can see Neelkanth peak, Vashudhara, Bheempul etc.after exploring Mana village return back to Badrinath for night stay.

Day 06

Badrinath - Rishikesh/Haridwar (1220 ft./1029 ft.)

Get up early in the morning take a dip in hot water kund, have tea & breakfast depart to Rishikesh/Haridwar along with Alaknanda river which merges many water streams & rivers on it, 10 hours to reach Rishikesh/Haridwar. This hole trek show us creation of nature & it’s Beauty which promote us towards natural beauty & its preservation.
Trekkers can enjoy some adventure activities in Rishikesh like white water rafting, camping in jungle, kayaking, Bungy jump, Air Safari etc.
