Hampta Pass Chandratal trek is a most popular trek in manali with beauty of himalayan landscape, snow covered peaks and grazing Himalayan goats and horse. Hampta Pass Chandratal trek lies at an altitude of 4270 m (14009 ft) on the Pir Panjal range in the Himalayas. It is a small corridor between Lahaul and Kullu valley of Himachal Pradesh, India. Hamta village is located below Sethan village and from there it got its name Hampta Pass. This pass is frequently used by shepherds of lower Himalayan region, seeking for high altitude grassland in the dry cold desert of Lahaul during summer time. Numbers of wild flowers and herbs grow at the altitude between 3000 to 3800 m. Vertical rock walls, water falls, hanging glaciers, tiny lakes, peaks rising above 6000 m are main characteristics of this trek. People need a proper guide to cross certain glaciers. From Hampta pass one can extend their journey towards the beautiful Chandratal.
Hampta Pass Chandratal Lake is moderate category of trek sometime it becomes difficult due to heavy snow on pass. it opens in june month but if you want to do chandratal lake then plan after june when Rohtang pass opens. there is beautiful camping sites during this trek, Chika, Balu ka Gaira, Shiagoru, Chandratal lake, all camping site full of charm and offers Himalayan view, valley view where one can get incredible photographs of nature. Chandratal lake also one more major attraction of this trek which is situated at an altitude of 4300 meter and it is also source of chenab river. Trekkes reach Manali by drive from Chandratal via Rohtang pass and gets a chance to explore rohtang pass.

Itineraries
Day 01
Manali (2000m) - Jobra (2707m) - Chikha (3000m) (Drive / 45 mins) ( trek / 2 hrs)
First day is reserved for a meet and greet, and orientation, after you reach the base camp the trek leader will take a small orientation session, covering information like packing, walking techniques. You will also be given general information about the trek and the route. Stay overnight at the base camp.Day 02
Chikha (3000m) - Balu - Ka - Ghera (3600m) (Trek / 4 - 5 hrs)
The third day Trek is a gradual ascent. While Trekking, we will be able to see the spectacular Dhauladhar range in the background and Indrasan peak in front. The best part of today’s Trek that we have to cross two rivers one at the start just near to Chikka Campsite and other at waraNcusa. We will have our packed lunch after crossing the jwarancusa.Day 03
Balu - Ka - Gheera (3600m) - Hampta Pass (4270m) - Shea Gahru (3700m) (Trek / 6 - 7 hrs)
This is the most spectacular part of the Trek as we cross the Hampta Pass and then descend to our campsite in Siaguru. From Hampta Pass you can see the Indrasan Peak and its gigantic glacier. Today’s Trek will take us approximately 8 hrs to reach Siaguru. The ascent on this part of the Hampta Pass Trek will be moderateDay 04
Siagoru to Chatru drive to Chandratal : 7 km Trek - 5-6 Hours
This day we have an easy descent through the Hampta Valley. The massive mountains of the Pir Panjal and Spiti ranges dominate the entire landscape till the campsite at Chatru. Chatru is a confluence point of paths from Rohtang Pass, Hampta Pass and Spiti. From Chatru if road and weather condition permit we head to the ChandraTaal and camp at suitable place according to the conditions.Day 05
Chandratal (4300m) - Manali (2000m) (Drive / 5 - 6 Hrs)
Today last day of the Trek, Trek down to Manali. In the morning after breakfast we leave for Manali via the Rohtang Pass. Our wonderful Experience of Trekking in Himachal ends.● Accommodation during Trek (Camping)
