Brahmatal (Tal means Lake) is an high altitude natural lakes in Dewal block of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand. Brahmatal trek is famous for winter treks and another lake Bhekal tal is situated 8 km from base camp Lohajung. This lake is dedicated to Lord Nag Devata, every year villager organise pooja here in the occasion of Janmastmi, both blocks (Dewal & tharali ) take parts in it. During winter both the Tal (lake) will be frozen with hard layer of ice.

Bhekaltal’s water flows both direction towards Mundoli & Ratgaon, source of water of this lake is still unknown, it is in between dense forest of various kinds of tree & Brahmatal is in open meadow. Distance between both the tal is 7 km.Lohajung to Bhekal tal route passes through dense forest & Bhekal Tal to Brahmatal route passes through open medows, which offers to behold views ofhimalayan range peaks (Trishul, Nandaghunti) & both side valley with villages Wan, Didina, Ratgaon, Bursol, Dungari etc. This trek accessible around the year, in winter view of white layer around the valley & other season lush green meadows & forest.

you can reach by bus to Kathgodam/Rishikesh and from there can go by sharing Locat Taxi to Lohajung-Mundoli basce camp.
