Bhekal Tal – Brahmatal (Tal means Lake) is an high altitude natural lakes in Dewal block of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand , also famous for winter treks. Bhekal tal is stuated 8 km from base camp Lohajung. This lake is dedicated to Lord Nag Devata, every year villager organise pooja here in the occasion of Janmastmi, both blocks (Dewal & tharali ) take parts in it. During winter both the Tal (lake) will be frozen with hard layer of ice.
Bhekaltal’s water flows both direction towards Mundoli & Ratgaon, source of water of this lake is still unknown, it is in between dense forest of various kinds of tree & Brahmatal is in open meadow. Distance between both the tal is 7 km.
Lohajung to Bhekal tal route passes through dense forest & Bhekal Tal to Brahmatal route passes through open medows, which offers to behold views of himalayan ranges peaks (Trishul, Nandaghunti) & both side valley with villages Wan, Didina, Ratgaon, Bursol, Dungari etc.
This trek accessible around the year, in winter view of white layer around the valley & other season lush green meadows & forest.

Short Itinerary

1st Day: Kathgodam/Rishikesh – Lohajung (7,700 ft.) – 226 kms/263 kms.(10 hours)
2nd Day: Lohajung – Ajan top – Lohajung- 6.5 km – 5 hours.
3rd Day:4th Day: Bhekal Tal – Brahmatal (10000 ft. – 12000 ft.) – 7.5 km – 3 to 4 Hours
5th Day : Brahmatal – Talgair,Ratgaon (5700 ft.) – 14 km – 4 to 5 Hours
6th Day: Talgair,Ratgaon to Kathgodam/Rishikesh via Tharali – 240 km – 9 Hrs.

Detailed Itinerary

1st Day: Kathgodam/Rishikesh – Lohajung (7,700 ft.) – 226 kms/263 kms.(10 hours)
We will recieive you from Kathgodam Railway station, Morning depart from Kathgodam to Lohajung(7700 ft), brekfast & lunch on the way. This day you will see glimpse of Uttarakhand (Kumaoun & Garhwal), passes through many hill stations, Villages, rivers & winding roads.
Travel distance is 226 km from Kathgodam & Rishikesh (263kms) Haridwar (288kms) which takes 9-10 hours to reach. Night stay in Guest house in Lohajung.

2nd Day: Lohajung – Ajan top – Lohajung- 6.5 km – 5 hours..
Ajan top is the beautiful place from where we can see all villages of valley including Gwaldam, view of Trishuli & Nandaghunghuti. Ajan is nearest visiting place around 3km, after exploring Ajan’s surrounding view will return to lohajung via kopani, 5 km trek to reach Lohajung. Over night stay in Lohajung.

3rd Day: Lohajung – Bhekal Tal– (9890 ft.) – 8.5 kms – 3 to 5 Hours
Good Morning Himalaya , Morning amazing view of Pinder valley, view of Himalayan range peak Nanda Ghunghuti & villages : Mundoli, Bank, Harani, Didina, Wan. Morning tea & Breakfast in lohajun & start trek towards Bhekal Tal p small –small subparts of Mundoli village Khurali, Budula, Daldum & Begum, trek route is quite comfortable slight descend & ascend, from Daldum surrounding view is beautiful, after crossing Daldum route goes between thick forest where you can clicks photos of birds, small rivers & various kind of trees. After ascending around 2.5 km we will reach to a small meadow and a small lake called khobduni, 400 mtr far from bhekal tal. Today we will pitch camp here & explore bhekal Tal & surroundings.

4th DAY : Bhekal Tal – Brahmatal (10000 ft. – 12000 ft.) – 7.5 km – 3 to 4 Hours
We trek forward to Brahmatal after breakfast, lunched box will be packed. Watch morning view of Bhekal tal, twittering sound of birds, cool air of Himalaya which feels you a peaceful experience of journey. After crossing Bhekal we will reach to a lush green meadow & Grazing animals like cow, Buffalos, Horses, Flocks of Goats & sheep some huts of villager who lives here seasonally for look after of pet animals. We will reach now in Dungulipani top from where view is quite amazing both side we can see many village & Himalayan peaks view, trek towards Brahmatal , there also we can see huts & animals. We will camp near Brahmatal today.

5th Day: Brahmatal – Talgair,Ratgaon (5700 ft.) – 14 km – 4 to 5 Hours.
Explore Brahmatal & surroundings, click with camera. After breakfast we will trek to Ratgaon Village today distance of 14 km quite descend, on the way we will sea many huts & old houses, small streams of water , green grounds & agriculture fields, big trees, Nag Devata temple. From nag devata temple one water stream flows which appears 3-4 times on the way, we will reach a big ground like stadium called talgair, (gair means here ground ). Over night stay in Camp /Home stay in Talgair.

6th Day: Talgair,Ratgaon to Kathgodam/Rishikesh via Tharali – 240 km – 9 Hrs.
Today is the last day for your trek programme Early morning tea & depart to Tharali where vehicle will be waiting for us & depart to your destination Rishikesh or Kathgodam, say by to Himalaya.
